FAQ

How can I get issues on someone else's torrents fixed or changed?

We have two threads, post your issue in the thread where the maintainers can fix said issue.
Thread: Torrents That Need a Category Change - Post Here For Super Users & Translators To Move V2 (maintained by our Super Users, KAT Elites, and Translators)
Thread: Torrents that need updating / KAT changing/ Mod Work Thread Only..V6 (maintained by Moderators)

Things Super Users, KAT Elites, and Translators can fix for you in their thread:
✔ Wrong categories

Things mods can fix for you:
✔ Wrong categories (You can post in the Super User/KAT Elite/Translator thread)
✔ Changing false titles (also viable for a report) and/or removing external links from the torrent title
✔ Changing the "Detected Quality"
✔ Adding, changing, or removing metadata *
✔ Adding, changing, or removing the description (must be 100% true info if it is technical media info)
✔ Editing the IMDb link to TV Shows (in the metadata)
✔ Updating IMDb rating for Movies and TV Shows (and RottenTomatoes rating for movies)
✔ Tracker adding, changing, or removing
✔ Adding, changing, or removing audio languages/subtitle languages
✔ Adding covers to the metadata of torrents that don't have one
✔ Summaries. We can edit them but there is a thread for this and we prefer that:
Thread: Torrents that need updating / KAT changing/ Mod Work Thread Only..V6

*Not compulsory but please provide for:
Movies: IMDb ID | TV Shows: TVMazeID | Books: ISBN | Games: Nothing needed | Music: MusicBrainz ID/Artist Name | Anime: AniDB ID

Things mods cannot fix due to metadata being strictly a part of an API system:
✖ Adding, changing, or removing other metadata info (title, posters, genre, year, cast).
Note: Staff can rename TV Shows/movies so contact Staff for title changes. However most titles are perfect as they are.
✖ Adding, changing, or removing episodes (or episode info like air date/title) for TV Shows
Goes without saying but:
✖ Torrents that do not work for you/seeding problems

Please, remember to follow the thread rules which are displayed in the first post.

If the torrent has the wrong IMDB number and details then you post here: Thread: Torrents that need updating / KAT changing/ Mod Work Thread Only..V5

If the IMDB number is correct, but the cast / year / etc are wrong you'll need to change it via IMDB's Contributor Zone (requires signing up).

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
Now that the "report" button has been removed, that thread is the place to get them fixed. It's the correct thread, because it's an issue that only mods and up can fix. I think it's all explained in this article.

Thanks for the above FAQ? FAQ: How can I get issues on someone else's torrents fixed or changed? ... I need several cover photos and/or description added to the books I uploade. I always wondered how to do so. I happened to find this helpful FAQ? as well the thread by mere luck.
I have a problem with a torrent I just put up. For some reason, I can't edit the author, book name or ISBN - which are all wrong. My torrent has somehow been linked with another book of the same title, and I want to remove the two. The torrent is in fact a webfic, and has no ISBN: With This Ring by Mr. Zoat

Should I post in Torrents that need updating ...ng/ Mod Work Thread Only..V6
yes post it there.thump_up

Perhaps update book requirements to "Must be on ISBNdb".
All other categories use database IDs.
ISBN is still the key, regardless of the provider.
The thing about ISBN is its universal. Whichever provider of book metadata you use, they are all going to use ISBN. (Erm... except for Amazon's ASIN...)

Right now, the book metadata scraping from ISBNdb doesn't work well. It's not our fault. ISBNdb doesn't keep up to date. So that's a problem. But maybe one day we'll use someone else or some different system. Whatever it is, it will use the ISBN number. So if you put in the ISBN, even if it isn't working today, one day it might.

The situation is a little different with most of the other metadata sources. They all have their own database with their own unique identifiers. So if one provider closes, there's no guarantee that the new site will support the old numbering scheme.
ISBN is a good scheme.
I only suggest this because I spent a couple of hours going through uploaded ebooks here only to find out that all my work was rejected because “Sorry, not available at isbndb”.
If the system changes in the future, this FAQ page can be updated to reflect it.
But until then, correct KAT procedure should be acknowledged here for anyone who wants to help.
My advice is, don't worry about ISBNdb.
Just rely on yourself and make a good description for your torrents. The extra metadata that ISBNdb provides is a nice extra, but shouldn't be thought of as a substitute for your own description. There are lots of books that will never have the kind of metadata that ISBNdb provides -- either because they are old, rare, an unusual format, or a bundle of books. No matter what metadata solution KAT eventually settles on, there will be lots of book uploads that won't be covered.
Good plan. ;)

You should change the 3rd widget of thread....to V6 too

FAQ: Como corrigir problemas nos torrents de outras pessoas ou alterá-los?

But is my impression or, should be a different thread after the part of the summaries? think
Which thread do you think would be better (or good to add)?
I'm open to suggestions.
The point of that is that since the report button has been removed from summaries, there still needs to be some way of dealing with bad summaries. And that thread is the preferred way of doing so -- preferred over sending a PM to a mod.
Then they should not be in the "Things mods can fix for you:"?! think

That I understood. think
What I don't understand is that, if the summaries can be fixed and reported on the thread, why in the FAQ it's with the s instead of s?! dizzy

Ahh! I see. Thanks for explaining. I didn't get that distinction before. Doh! I suppose it used to be that mods couldn't change summaries, and it was in that section -- but then they could change summaries and only the text got changed, but it didn't get moved to another section. I'll move it right now.

The FAQ says: "Adding covers to films that don't have one"
Does it apply to game covers also?
Yes. But only if the torrent has metadata, but no cover.
This may be true for other media types as well, but I haven't tested. Please let me know if you learn more.

Everything is clear, thank you!

If there is a wrong IMDb link provided in to a movie, how can I report it?
